The Dowerin Short Stay Accommodation is open for bookings with the Grand Opening to be held on August 12, just weeks before the Dowerin GWN7 Machinery Field Days.
The precinct has been years in the making and will offer guests a range of quality yet affordable accommodation options in the Wheatbelt.
Dowerin Shire President Cr Dale Metcalf said while there was an obvious demand for accommodation throughout the busy Field Days period, the Shire had also identified a need for high-class facilities in the region. “There is a strong demand for quality accommodation in the Wheatbelt area, and now there is a great choice for the many people traveling through the region on a regular basis,” Cr Metcalf said.“ The Dowerin Short Stay Accommodation will target a wide range of travellers by offering different options from units to camping sites.”
The precinct is ideally located adjacent to the sporting facilities and Dowerin Field Days site, and only a short stroll from the town centre. “We expect the accommodation to attract grey nomads, contractors, salespeople and holiday makers, with the great facilities we have on offer,” Cr Metcalf said.
The modern and comfortable studio units offer a range of features including a queen sized bed, generous en-suite bathroom and flat screen TV. The one-bedroom units include a queen sized bed as well as a fold-out sofa bed ideal for additional guests. They include a well-appointed kitchenette making them perfect for longer stays. The facility has also been designed to be universally accessible for wheelchairs.
The park facilities include a well-equipped camp kitchen, modern ablutions, waste dump and laundry, with powered camp and caravan sites available.
The Grand Opening, to be held on August 12 at 10am, will include a walk-through of the facilities, opening ceremony, entertainment and light refreshments. The precinct will be officially opened by Melissa Price, MP, Federal Member for Durack.
“We are offering everyone who attends the chance to win a free night’s stay in one of our brand new units, with seven to be won and drawn on the day,” Cr Metcalf said. “We invite anyone who may be interested in seeing the new facilities first hand to attend the Grand Opening and look forward to receiving our first official guests the following week.”
The Shire of Dowerin thanks the Australian Government through the National Stronger Regions Fund and Dowerin Events Management for their significant contribution to the project. We also acknowledge the great support from local business Bowman Brush and local photographer, Lyn Phillips.
