FOOD and wine enthusiasts wanting to get a taste for the unique flavours of the West Australian wheat belt should not miss this year’s Dowerin GWN Machinery Field Days.
Renowned butcher Vince Garreffa and TV personality Verity James will be cooking up a storm in the new fresh food pavilion, giving visitors the opportunity to taste local produce and offering tips on the best way to prepare it.
Dowerin Field Days chairman Philip Metcalf said the new Fresh Food Pavilion was a fantastic initiative which would provide visitors with a great opportunity to taste a variety of Western Australian produce in one convenient location.
“People all over the world are starting to realise the benefits of eating fresh produce, and we are lucky enough in Australia to have some of the finest producers in the world,” Mr Metcalf said.
“Here in the wheatbelt it can sometimes be difficult to get a taste for the unique flavours of our state, which is why we have created the new Fresh Food pavilion for visitors, which also gives producers a chance to show off what they do best!”
Among some of the products available for tastings in the Fresh Food Pavilion include lupin flour, local lamb, olives, honey, nuts, spices, coffee, a variety of wines, and for those with a sweet tooth, chocolates, cakes, puddings and fudge.
“Vince Garreffa and Verity James will be teaming up to prepare dishes from a range of different products, and will give our visitors some insights in the best way prepare and cook meals,” Mr Metcalf said.
“We expect visitors to walk away with some fantastic tips, and fresh ingredients to try out at home.
“With so many different foods on display, and available to taste, the hardest thing will be deciding what to choose!”
