From Farm Gate to Plate
WHEN it comes to producing the world’s most sought after resource, food, Western Australian farmers are experts. And consumers are starting to realise it.
It is with this in mind Dowerin Events Management is excited to introduce a new theme for this year’s Dowerin GWN Machinery Field Days: “From Farm Gate to Plate.”
Dowerin Events Management chairman Philip Metcalf said one of the key objectives of the Dowerin Field Days was to help farmers through the process of producing food from their Farm Gate to the consumer’s plate, in terms of maximising productivity and getting the best return for their produce.
“When it comes to getting the right information and equipment, there really is no other place like the Dowerin Field Days,” Mr Metcalf said.
“Over 500 exhibitors are here to help farmers make the right choices when it comes to buying things like machinery, farming equipment, and fertilisers, as well as providing them with valuable information about storage, loans and grain contracts.
“With the rainy days appearing to be fewer and far between, it is becoming increasingly important for farmers to seek the right information.”
As well as all the high quality exhibits visitors have come to expect from the Dowerin Field Days, including the latest machinery, allied equipment, and more recently livestock, this year farmers will get to literally see the fruits of their labour in the new Fresh Food Pavilion.
“The Fresh Food Pavilion, to be located on the football oval, will be a major hub filled with foods made from wheatbelt produce such as breads, meats and beers, as well as other WA products including cheeses, wines, fruits and vegetables,” Mr Metcalf said.
“It will give local producers an opportunity to market WA foods to visitors of the Field Days, and sell their fresh produce.
“Now more than ever, consumers are starting to realise the benefits of buying fresh meat and veg from WA, as opposed to others states and countries, which is great news for WA farmers.
“And what better place for them to sell and market their produce, then among the rest of the states food producers!”
The new theme will be evident among the Dowerin Field Days advertising campaigns which will include the idea of the “Food Farmer” and important role they play in our state.
