Allan Moffat to visit the Wheatbelt
MOTORING enthusiasts from across the state will be given a unique opportunity to meet one of the nation’s most renowned motoring Legends.
Australian Touring Car Champion and Bathurst winner Allan Moffat will be spending three days in Dowerin this April, to be part of the well regarded “Theo’s Run” car show and driving event held annually by Dowerin Car Club.
Dowerin Car Club president David Bird said the club was very excited about Allan coming along this year to be a part of Theo’s Run.
“We expect this year to be better than ever, with new events such as Spear a Spud and Go to Whoa being introduced into the now two day format,” Mr Bird said.
“The event combines a regular car show with a city to country convoy run, and the option of driving your car on demonstration laps, on a newly constructed track at the Dowerin Field Days grounds.
“Mini events, display laps, and the Show n Shine are just some of the events highlights, with entertainment planned for the whole family, including a movie night for the kids.
“Everyone is welcome, whether they own a car, motorbike, truck, tractor, or just want to come along and join in on the fun.”
Mr Bird said a special Dowerin Car Club meeting, with Allan, was planned for Saturday morning, allowing a rare opportunity for members to gain exclusive access to Allan for a question and answer session.
“Additionally, for Theo’s Run, Allan will be attending a formal dinner as the guest of honour, which will include specially invited politicians and dignitaries,” Mr Bird said.
“However, for those just wanting to attend Theo’s Run, Allan will be in town all weekend to meet enthusiasts on both days of the event.”
The fourth annual Dowerin Car Club event will be held on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th of April at the Dowerin Field Days grounds.
The convoy run will depart from Centrepoint car park, Midland, at 8.30am on the Sunday, travelling via Toodyay and Goomalling to Dowerin, and will be officially opened by Allan Moffat upon arrival.
Funding for Theo’s Run is provided by the Community Road Safety Grant Program, Dowerin Car Club, Dowerin Shire and Dowerin Events Management.
