Sheep Dog Trials

In 2011, Dowerin was chosen to host the Supreme Australian Sheep Dog Championships, with over fifty trainers and nearly 200 working sheep dogs taking part from across the country.

The trials attracted thousands of visitors over the week, with many returning each day to watch the dog and their trainer’s progress into the weekend’s finals.

There was some stiff competition and by the end of the week, anyone could have taken home the title of Supreme Champion.

But in the end it was Queensland competitor Geoff Gibson and his dog Dusty, that were crowned the Supreme Champions with a total of 260 points in the final.
